Born in Switzerland to an Italian father and a Finnish mother, Mikael De Franceschi . has built a career shaped by creativity, authenticity, and a passion for storytelling. As a model, actor, and content creator, he continues to explore new ways of connecting with audiences through meaningful projects and artistic expression. In this exclusive interview for FashionMag42.com, Mikael reflects on his multicultural roots, creative journey, and the values that continue to guide both his life and career.

FM42: You were born in Switzerland to an Italian father and a Finnish mother. How have these different cultures shaped the person and artist you are today?

M.F: My Italian and Finnish roots are a fundamental part of who I am. They are present in my values, my personality, and the way I see the world.

From Italy, I inherited passion, warmth, and a deep connection to human emotions. From Finland, I learned resilience, introspection, and respect for authenticity.

Being born and raised in Switzerland added another dimension to my identity: openness to different cultures and an international mindset. Today, I see myself as a blend of these influences, and they naturally shape both the person and artist I am becoming.

FM42: You often describe yourself as an artist at heart. When did you first realize that creativity would be a central part of your life?

M.F: Very early. As a child, I was constantly creating. I loved drawing, painting, inventing stories, and performing little shows with my sister and cousins for our family.

Like many people, I gradually moved away from that creative side because of social expectations and the desire to follow a more traditional path.

Years later, I realized that creativity was not simply something I enjoyed; it was something I needed. That realization pushed me out of my comfort zone and led me into modeling, content creation, and eventually acting.

Today, acting allows me to reconnect with that child who always wanted to tell stories and explore different facets of human nature.

FM42: As a model, actor, and content creator, how do you balance public exposure with staying true to yourself?

M.F: As a model, actor, and content creator, I see every platform and every project as an opportunity to tell stories and create meaningful connections.

For many years, I was searching for my place between different passions, experiences, and career paths. Today, I fully embrace my identity as an actor and artist. I know that this is where I belong, and I am committed to building an international career while remaining true to who I am.

Staying authentic means never losing sight of my values, even as my ambitions grow. I believe I have something valuable to contribute to this industry, not only through my performances but also through the messages I choose to support and the stories I choose to tell.

Art has the power to inspire, challenge perspectives, and shine a light on important social issues. Whether through cinema, theatre, or digital content, I want my work to carry meaning and create conversations.

At the same time, I am developing projects that allow me to share my experiences, lessons, and journey with others. I believe that success becomes even more meaningful when it can inspire and help people discover their own path.

FM42: Your work is driven by emotion and self-expression. What is the most powerful emotion you have ever conveyed through your art?

M.F: Without hesitation: love. Love exists in many forms; love for life, for people, for dreams, for growth, and even for our struggles.

I believe art has the power to remind us that we are connected. Whether through a role, a photograph, a video, or a conversation, I always hope to leave people with a sense of warmth, hope, or inspiration.

To me, creating is ultimately an act of love.

FM42: Having worked with renowned photographers and acting coaches around the world, what has been the most valuable lesson you’ve learned so far?

M.F: The most valuable lesson has been learning to be present.

In the beginning, I was often focused on the result: how I looked, how I performed, and how I would be perceived.

Over time, I understood that the magic happens when you stop controlling and start experiencing.

Great photographers, coaches, and artists taught me that authenticity comes from being fully present in the moment. The camera never lies; it captures what is real.

That lesson has transformed not only my work but also the way I approach life.

FM42: Social media has become an important part of your career. How do you maintain authenticity while building your personal brand?

M.F: I see social media as a powerful communication tool rather than a destination in itself.

Of course, visibility is important in today’s world, but I never want my public image to become disconnected from reality. I try to share not only achievements and highlights but also the journey behind them: the challenges, doubts, lessons, and growth.

Recently, together with my associate, I launched the media-podcast HORS CHAMP. Through this project, we explore the human side of artists, actors, and creators, focusing on their journeys, struggles, and defining moments rather than only their success.

More broadly, I am building projects that allow me to share what I have learned throughout my personal and professional journey. If my experiences can inspire someone to believe in themselves, pursue their passion, or overcome a difficult moment, then I feel I am using my platform in a meaningful way.

For me, authenticity is not a strategy. It is the foundation of everything I create.

FM42: Behind the photos, campaigns, and social media presence, who is Mikael when no one is watching?

M.F: I am a deeply sensitive and curious person. I love meaningful conversations, spending time with family and friends, being in nature, and continuously learning about myself and the world around me.

What truly makes me happy is seeing people smile. If I can positively impact someone’s day, even in a small way, I consider that a success.

Behind everything I do, there is a simple desire: to grow, to inspire, and to remain connected to what makes us human.
