Treatment Award 2017 – Support for Authors

Treatment Award 2017 – Support for Authors

Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen (SRF) and Telepool Zürich collaborate with Zurich Film Festival (ZFF) to present the fifth Treatment Award. In doing so, these long-term partners highlight the importance of the treatment phase within the story development and screenwriting process. Authors are invited to submit a feature-film treatment on the theme “Selfie”. A three-person jury will judge the submitted treatments and choose both the finalists and the overall winner. The winner will receive a CHF 5’000 cash prize and a contribution of CHF 25’000 towards screenplay development.

SRF, the distribution company Telepool Zürich and Zurich Film Festival 2017 are calling for entries to the fifth Treatment Award competition. Authors may enter the competition by submitting a feature-length cinema or TV film treatment on the theme “Selfie”. The application form and a complete list of competition regulations are available for download at www.srf.ch/treatmentaward. The deadline for entries is August 15, 2017.

A jury comprising one SRF representative, one Telepool Zürich representative and an external expert will judge the submitted treatments and announce the finalists in mid-September 2017. The five entrants who make it through to the final round receive an invitation to attend the ZFF Writers‘ Day, where they are offered the chance to fraternize during a ZFF Master Class with well-known personalities from the film industry. At the end of this, they are each asked to pitch their treatment to the jury, which then selects a winner. The Treatment Award is conferred during the Zurich Film Festival’s celebratory Award Night at Zurich Opera House on October 7, 2017.

The Treatment Award is endowed with a CHF 5’000 cash prize. The winner also receives a screenplay development agreement worth up to CHF 25’000 for the creation of a feature-length cinema or TV film screenplay. SRF, Telepool Zürich and Zurich Film Festival aim to use the Treatment Award competition to encourage the creation of screenplays in Switzerland. The competition also highlights the three partner’s commitment to supporting and promoting the Swiss film industry and its emerging talent.
