MAG42: What is your first fashion memory that you can recall?
My earliest fashion memory is watching my mother get dressed up for special occasions. I remember being fascinated by the way she carefully chose her outfit, accessorized it, and applied makeup. It was like watching a transformation, and I was always captivated by how confident and elegant she looked. Those moments definitely left a lasting impression on me and sparked my interest in fashion.
MAG42: As a fashion designer, how would you define your role in society today?
As a fashion designer in today’s society, my role extends beyond my creation; I am a storyteller, and a catalyst for change. Through my designs, I shape perceptions, challenge norms, and advocate for important social issues. I use my platform to not only innovate and inspire but also to provoke thought and spark conversations about the world we live in. My designs serve as expressions of identity, aspirations, and values, connecting individuals and communities on a deeper level. In essence, I am a visionary, striving to make a meaningful impact through the transformative power of fashion.
MAG42: In the fashion industry what is the best lesson you have learned along the way?
One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned in the fashion industry is the importance of staying true to my vision and voice. It’s easy to get swept up in trends, industry pressure, or the desire for commercial success, but ultimately, what sets a designer apart is their unique perspective and point of view.
By staying true to my vision, I’ve been able to carve out a distinctive identity in a crowded and competitive field. I’ve learned to trust my instincts, embrace my creative intuition, and not be afraid to take risks or challenge conventions.
Additionally, I’ve learned the importance of resilience and perseverance. The fashion industry can be incredibly demanding and unpredictable, with highs and lows that can test your confidence and resolve. However, by staying focused on my passion and purpose, I’ve been able to weather the inevitable challenges and setbacks that come with the territory.
MAG42: in June 2023, Mourjjan and Roland Rahal were given the MIELE X MODE SUISSE AWARD FOR POSITIVE IMPACT for the Mourjjan4Children. Roland tell us something more about the project.mourjjan4children.ch and how we can participate?
Winning the 2023 MIELE X MODE SUISSE AWARD FOR POSITIVE IMPACT was a significant milestone for Mourjjan and Mourjjan4Children, amplifying its reach and impact. This recognition shed light on the project’s innovative approach to supporting disadvantaged children who have experienced trauma. Through creative programs, Mourjjan4Children empowers these children to navigate challenges and discover their potential.
The project’s funding model is as ingenious as its mission. By transforming the children’s artwork into products like scarves and hoodies, Mourjjan4Children generates organic revenue to sustain its activities. Not only does this approach fund the project, but it also instills a sense of accomplishment in the children, further fueling their motivation and resilience.
Participating in Mourjjan4Children is simple yet profound. Through purchasing these products or engaging with the project’s initiatives, individuals can directly contribute to the well-being and development of these children, creating a ripple effect of positivity and transformation in their lives.

MAG42: Highlight of the week was your fashion show at the Mode Suisse FW24725 “ETHEREAL” under the visionary direction and production of Yannick Aellen at the prestigious Kongresshaus in Zurich with enchanting live music by duo Egopusher. What was the main inspiration for the mesmerising ETHEREAL collection and who was involved in creating it ? (makeup, hair partners, organizations)
The main inspiration for the “Ethereal” collection stemmed from the ethereal beauty found in nature’s fleeting moments, including not only the delicate dance of light on a dew-kissed morning but also the intriguing interplay of shadows and darkness that add depth and mystery to the landscape. I interpreted this essence into my creations by focusing on flowing silhouettes, soft textures, and a palette that harmonized iridescent hues with subtle shades of darkness, capturing the sublime and ephemeral qualities of the natural world. The show was produced and directed by Yannick Aellen, adding another dimension to the show, bringing the ethereal vision to life with his expertise and creativity.
In line with my brand’s ethos of promoting awareness and empowerment, I supported the “Tags Against Crime campaign”, advocating against sexualized crimes. Partners like MAC Cosmetics and Paul Mitchell helped bring my vision to life through stunning makeup and hair. DS Automobile provided luxurious transportation, while Jo Malone added a touch of fragrance magic. The prestigious Kongresshaus venue and Savoy Mandarin Hotel Zurich as our hotel partner elevated the experience, making it an unforgettable showcase of ethereal beauty and social consciousness. Egopusher’s mesmerizing live music at the show enchanted guests and brought an additional layer of life to the catwalk, perfectly complementing the ethereal essence of the collection.
MAG42: Who or what are your inspirations for creating your designs?
My design inspirations are deeply rooted in the world around me. I draw from the myriad of experiences, cultures, and movements that shape our society. Whether it’s the vibrancy of street art in bustling cities, the serene beauty of nature in remote landscapes, or the rich tapestry of human stories and struggles, I am constantly attuned to the pulse of the world. Each element I encounter serves as a potential muse, guiding my creative process and infusing my designs with authenticity and relevance.
Moreover, I am driven by a profound need for purpose in my work. I believe that fashion should not only be aesthetically pleasing but also meaningful and impactful. Thus, I strive to imbue my collections with a transformative power that transcends mere style. By addressing pressing social issues through my designs, I aim to spark conversations, raise awareness, and catalyze positive change. Through fashion, I endeavor to amplify voices, challenge norms, and foster empathy, ultimately contributing to a more compassionate and enlightened global community.
MAG42:What fabric do you like to use the most?
Most of the time, I prefer to work with Italian silk, primarily sourced from Como. The luxurious texture and impeccable quality of Italian silk from Como lend a sophisticated elegance to my designs. However, I am always open to exploring a variety of textiles, depending on the theme and concept of each collection. Sustainability is paramount in my approach, so I ensure that whichever fabrics I use align with ethical practices, minimize waste, and avoid overproduction. By embracing diverse materials thoughtfully and responsibly, I aim to create fashion that not only captivates aesthetically but also aligns with my values of environmental stewardship and social responsibility.
MAG42: Where can we shop your designs?
My couture and haute couture pieces are available by appointment at my atelier in Zurich, offering a personalized experience for clients seeking bespoke creations. For those interested in ready-to-wear pieces, a selection of small collections can also be found at my atelier. Additionally, my collections are sold in select boutiques and high-end fashion destinations in Lebanon, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Saudi Arabia. Whether through custom-made or curated retail experiences, I strive to ensure accessibility to my designs while maintaining the exclusivity and craftsmanship synonymous with my brand.
